The car started but it could not move since it lacked traction to make it move uphill. The headlights shone on the man who stood there undeterred. He held a baseball bat in his hand. We both started unlocking our doors to escape. The driver door failed to unlock and my sister crawled through the passenger door. We could hear his footsteps as we ran to calling for help. Suddenly, we saw a car speeding downhill. He drove to our home to see if we had run into a problem when he saw both of us on the road. We narrated to him our ordeal and he drove us home and arranged for the truck to be towed to the garage.

Later, we were informed we had hit a dog belonging to a madman who stayed in the woods and it had gone to him limping before dying shortly after. He had come to for revenge. It was a lot of fun; to be honest the party seemed to be quite good. It was suppose to be scary, but now that I come to see it does not compare to how I felt later on during the night.

You see the difference is looking at all the story I have heard about Halloween, this one that I have experienced seems a lot more realistic and frightening. I had no choice but to walk home by myself, because of the complicated story my mom told me which of course I was not listening to. The night was dark, gloomy, dusky, and silent. So basically these were not the conditions that I …show more content… Then he smiled and started walking in front of me really fast. Then he disappeared into the dusk. All the park lights were off and there was nobody else around. Again I heard another sound of footsteps. They became louder and louder which gave me the idea of someone coming closer. I stopped. I looked back. I saw no one. I heard nothing. There was a shadow lurking behind a car.

At first glance I thought it was a cat then I looked again and I thought it was far too big to be a cat. A shiver of fear ran up my spine.

He has two oranges in his coat pockets. When she comes out the boy smiles and leads her down the street until they reach a drugstore. While inside he asks her what she wants from the candy aisle. The girl picks out something for ten cents and since he only has a nickel he pays with his nickel and one of the oranges. The sales lady's eyes meet his and she, realizing the situation, allows the boy to pay with the orange. The boy then takes the girls hand and they walk together. After they walk for two blocks they stop and she unwraps her candy and he peels his orange. In the last few lines the narrator says the orange was so bright against the grayness of December that "from some distance, Someone might have thought I was making a fire in my….

It was pumpkin galore around me. I was in search for a giant, round, brilliantly orange pumpkin to be the face of my carving masterpiece. I was astonished to find small, big, round, lopsided, smooth, bumpy, light orange, and dark orange pumpkins; so many options! All around me I could hear the thumps of pumpkins being dropped into little red wagons. Children bundled in rain jackets, hats, scarves, and boots ran by with mud sprinkled up their pants. They did not seem to be the slightest bothered by their bright red noses and white little fingertips; pure happiness. The glistening, white snow fell slowly to the ground outside the window.

The distinct shapes of the snowflakes shown; the light from the street lamp seeping through the cracks. The mumble of the heater in the corner of the room; the faint sound of the blood dripping onto the floor were the only sounds. He lay there; motionless. The thuds were entering the silent room once again. The creaking of the wooden floor grew louder and louder. Still the light of the street lamp shone through the window and onto the far wall. The nasty figure walked into the murky room. Only its shadow appeared on the far wall behind it.

The boy in the bed was Eli. His tiny eight year old body was red with his own blood. She was trying to get to the main door. She stood up crying and held the handle, but unfortunately it was too late. She fell down, spitting with blood. Meanwhile decades later, both stories continue to captivate readers all over the world earning the reputation of being two of the best American folklore stories. A chilling breath of wind assaulted her deadened cheeks for it was a rough night and the stars had cowardly hid away behind the dull, mute clouds.

The predatory moon, bright and full; crept behind the cloudy sky stalking me as prey. Her voiceless shadow stumbled drunkenly as she battled through the hawkish rain to find shelter for the night. Her car had broken down a mile or so back. It had been hours since the sunlight faded to dark; hours since she'd been stranded in this deserted place. She was miles away from her home, she was very frightened. She just stood there, crying; wishing someone could help when, suddenly, a small old lady seemed to appear from no-where. She was extremely short with long, obsidian hair and a narrow, cadaverous face. Snow started to shower as if on a peaceful rainy night and I look for any opening, trying to escape this creature that was following me.

I could make out a large building figure ahead and ran directly to it, exhorting my energy as I advanced through the shivers in my body and aching bloodstained legs. An old tainted church-like mansion appeared as the fog cleared and I forced my way up the frigid sleet hill and onto a rusty pavement beside the building. I leaned upon the 5-metre tall wooden door trying to hear any sound coming from inside the outsized building, trying to sense any civilisation as the sky slowly turned into a rich black shade. I knocked onto the polished door, trying to depict a reaction from the owner that might've lived in this secluded place. Lights started to rapidly appear above the door and forming a luminous loop around the entire mansion, whilst the door blew open with such force that I was knocked back onto my spine.

I tried to scamper away on my knees as a spine-chilling sensation started to form from what was a supernatural…. After that, I began to notice strange shapes coming into view in the distance, and I realized that I was now standing on what appeared to be the roof of a high-rise in the middle of an unfamiliar city. As I stood there trying to find my bearings, I was shaken from my thoughts by the sound of clanking metal. I turned to find the source of the noise, and saw a metal cage. In the middle of the cage sat a ragged looking man with manacles on his wrists and ankles chaining him to the floor of the cage.

His clothes, if one could call those rags clothes, were tattered and torn. He appeared extremely malnourished, every curve of his ribs showing just beneath the skin. His hair was dark, and matted with filth, and his face was gaunt and sickly. In stark contrast to his appearance were his eyes. He looked close to death, but his bright emerald green eyes still seemed to be full of life, and they looked strangely familiar. Suddenly as if out of nothingness appeared a red eyed beast at the top of the wretched, steep hill we were attempting to scale. The wolf approached us with her steaming breath and her head low to the ground as if she was ready for the pounce.

If we had run she would have reacted with great violence, so we kept our bodies and expressions as lifeless as a china doll. Her eyes were glowing like a fire replenishing itself; the eyes of a burning demon. Her coat was as grey as the fog that surrounded us, the beast froze corpse still, silent and motionless. It was a struggle to see. We could just see that the beast was among us. The brute still had made no move and the deep fog was thickening. It came to the point were we were blind in that we could not see any thing but the dull greyness of the…. Suddenly, his mouth opens and you see his teeth, like knife points. He tips his head back to let out a spine-tingling howl. You stay, frozen by his voice, yet still not afraid of the predator in front of you. The sound of thunder rings out and he yelps, falling to the ground.

All is silent, even the wind. Crimson coats the stiff powder and you are in disbelief. Two men step from their hiding spots, looking like abominable snowmen in their white, puffy suits. One nods to you, as if he is some kind of savior, but you ponder to yourself, questioning: which creature really needs a savior? With inhuman speed, the dark figure was close behind me, a sound of hooves becoming louder. It was a nightmare had turned into reality. The bridge I had to reach the bridge… The sanctuary of the bridge was ahead of me and I cracked the whip and Gunpowder whinnied and raced on ahead, an unstoppable force of nature. At last, I had reached the bridge. Turning to face the dark figure, he had pulled the reins, forcing his horse to raise up.

My eyes could not turn away as the figure lifted the glowing head…Gunpowder jerked up in fear and then there was a flash of light… then a sickening crack that reverberated as my head the ground. Confused by this, he weakly moved his hand, which was still there, to feel at his face. With horror he realized that the odd sensation was a missing jaw, and when he pulled his hand away all he saw was red, the red stain of blood. The events of the day came back in full force to his memory, and with that was snapped back into the terrible reality he was living. My rod was perched on a branch while I took a small break to check on my bait.

Then in the corner of my eye I saw a child, no more than 8 years old, playing by the river. This was no time for someone this young to be all alone, so I decided to speak to him. I proceeded to the boy when suddenly I halted. My sixth sense echoed for me to stop, a mere 10 seconds passed when I pondered over why I had stopped. My body was shaking as a chill swam up my back tickling my hairs. A large figure advanced towards William, a monster, it had to be. Its feet pounded the ground as the innocent boy turned around. Sitting in the dark, watching miniature shadows creep by.

These little beasts lurk in his room and become his only friends, he start talking to them, yelling at them, until they turned him mad! But then a breeze fortunately wakes you from his insanity, it makes him feel alive, the cold breeze awakens his senses. Suddenly he smells the shame brought upon himself. He feels the guilt weighing on his shoulders. He tasted the bitterness of his actions. He hears the screams over and over again until the images come back to haunt him again. As the gushes of wind crash against the building, he smell the freshly cut grass, he see the branches, the leaves, and tries to remember the taste of berries hanging of the tree. It was standing there outside his reach, the figure breathed slowly and continuously as the rocking head looked at him purposely, it started pointing straight at him, mocking him because he is free.
