It is obvious that Shaw shows us both the transformation and identity of Eliza throughout the play. Shaw introduces us to the protagonists and tell us that Eliza has a "problem". The company travels up the nearby river in barrels to arrive in the town outside Erebor.


The company travels to the mountain and wait for the right moment when the secret passage inside can be opened. Bilbo eventually gets inside Erebor and encounters the dragon that occupies it. The dragon leaves in a few days to terrorize the town of Dale outside of the mountain. The dwarves then occupy their lost kingdom. As they go along their journey, they encounter many different types of beings such as orcs, elves, and other men. The whole series of events take place in the land of Middle Earth. Little was known about what could happen on this trip, but still Bilbo was drawn to this adventure with much excitement.

The hobbit traveled all over Middle-Earth, beginning with Bilbo's tiny hobbit-hole in the ground, to Mirkwood forest, to finally reaching the Mountain in which the dragon Smaug lives. Bilbo and Gollum agree to play a game of riddles that could mean life or death. When they get to the last one gollum says to ask a question. When Gollum does get Bilbo's question wrong he remembers he lost his precious. Then Gollum led the way out without knowing he was being followed. Bilbo Baggins is a hobbit living in the Shire having a peaceful quiet life in his hobbit hole. One day after living a life of leisure and pleasure he is awakened by a rude knock on his door.
